Saving Mona

If there is a theme in the 100 LLL posts I have written over the past seven years, it is the value of stepping out of our comfort zone and doing things that stretch and develop us as leaders.

Well, I have been asked to step way out of mine.

Two weeks ago, I learned that a massive data center had been approved directly across the street from our home. It threatens to destroy not only my ranch but also the town of Mona. Twenty of my neighbors gathered in my living room and elected me their spokesman. Talk about being out of my comfort zone. I have NEVER done anything like this, and I feel completely inadequate. I recorded this video yesterday, and it has already begun to go viral. I would sincerely appreciate it if you would watch and share it.

This is not about the pros and cons of data centers. It is about the fundamental right of citizens to be heard before a decision is made that will dramatically change their community forever.

Thanks. I apologize for using this forum for a personal plea. The other side has enormous resources in this fight, but the 2,000 citizens of our little town have one powerful resource of their own: their network of friends and colleagues. I felt I had to use mine.
